One of the things that we have been talking about in the Punch Above your Weight Workshop is how to make your web presence more appealing by the use of images and video clips.
When it came to practice, I’d got as far as uploading clips and even editing them using the software that came with the cam corder but the only way I had of putting the clips into a storyboard was to burn it onto a DVD. How did I stick the clips together to make a movie for You-tube? Life being as busy as ever I just parked it. However I’m sitting in a CIM meeting on Monday night when someone rings up interested in booking the band. However he wants to see what we’re like.
I’d edited up the clips after the gig in France but they were still in bits. I could send him a DVD in the post but dammit, I’m supposed to know about these things.
So what do we do – we go onto You-Tube to see if it has any ideas. You need an editor – i-films or windows movie maker. Terrific I thought – and then underneath it said “most modern PCs should have it installed.”
Well this one is less than 2 year old and is supposed to be a multi-media pc so I thought I’d have a look and blow me there it is. Duh!!!!
I started on this by 11 and by lunchtime I’d got a vid of the band ready to load onto You-Tube and embed in the site.
Now I’d got the bug I thought I’d better knock off one for the workshops too. I’m looking for sponsorship to roll them out on a wider front and one of the potential collaborators said that they’d need an 8 minute video. So here we go. Of course this one was much harder work as I had about 9 hours of material as we’d video’d 3 complete workshops. Nevertheless by 12.30 AM I was done – 2 vids in a day.
Watch out Spielberg – I’m on your tail
You can see the band one here – I’m going to post the other in the PunchAboveYourWeight Blog.
